Three cheers to the month of August and to my very first blog post! It's hard to believe that this is the last weekend of the month and in most cases the last official weekend of summer vacation for those heading back to school or have kids that are.
August has been a crazy, but good month for me. The sunny and warm summertime weather finally decided to show up in Seattle and it's been keeping me busy with family sessions, weddings, and senior sessions nearly every day of the week! (I can't wait to share pictures from all of these sessions with you!)
As we get ready to transition from summer to fall in the upcoming weeks I thought this would be a good time to ask you to help me raise a glass to the amazing month of August as I share with you, my first official print publication in Lake Tapps Living Magazine! This publication is the start of a monthly feature I'll be photographing, that highlights a cocktail recipe of the month in collaboration with Callie of Holcomb Weddings and Events, who will be designing and styling each month's photo shoot.
I've known Callie for a few years now. She was actually my wedding planner back in 2013 when I married my favorite guy on this earth. She was there for me week in and week out leading up to my wedding, listening to me vent, giving me tips on how to handle difficult situations and providing guidance on styling and decor. Needless to say, by the end of the wedding we had become friends. When I decided to include wedding into my photography services Callie was the first person I called on to help educate me on the ins and outs of the industry from a girl boss perspective and it's been amazing having her support so I don't have to go it alone!
In late June Callie had told me that she was approached with an opportunity to provide a drink of the month recipe in the Lake Tapps Living Magazine and I was more than thrilled for her for this opportunity. -And then she told me the even better news that she wanted yours truly to take the pics for her each month! Well, the word "ecstatic" doesn't even begin to describe the feeling running through my body! Albeit the publication is in a small local city magazine, it's still a big win in my books as I'm a firm believe that the small things do count and will lead to greater things!
So here it is - our very first Drink of the Month recipe for Lake Tapps Living Magazine and my photo that was published :)
PEACH PONTOON PUNCH
- 1.5 oz whip cream vodka
- 1 oz *fresh peach puree
- 5 oz lemonade
- 1-2 fresh peaches for puree and garnish
- 1 fresh lemon for garnish
In a blender add 1 freshly cut peach (pit removed) and 1.5oz of lemonade and blend. In a glass filled with ice, add whip cream vodka and then top it with the fresh peach-lemonade puree mix. Garnish with a fresh peach slice and/or lemon wedge.
For more intense peach flavor add more peach to the puree.
